Design crease green pot

I noticed a dark line around the middle of the pot which looks like a fault. I’ve been told it’s a design crease. Why? The other pots are fine but a line on this pot spoils it. I don’t know why this fault can’t be put right. It’s a shame when buying as a present for someone.
