24 to 10 Pin ATX Lenovo PSU Power Supply Motherboard Adapter Cable
    Dec 30, 2016
The only viable solution to Lenovo's 10-pin power supply input.
Like Dell, Lenovo have chosen to offer their desktop PC/Workstation computers with a proprietary power supply. This would be fine if, like Dell, they provide power supplies with enough basic wattage and enough cabling to run additional components, but it seems they do not. Pretty much every current PC tower offering from Lenovo is based on a single motherboard design which has its own power outputs for SATA, which means that only two cables are required from the power supply - a 4-pin direct CPU input and the proprietary 10-pin PSU input (which is the same connector profile as Apple's 10-pin PSU input, but has a different pinout). This means that with the standard PSU usually supplied with these PCs (a paltry 280W unit) using more than 4 SATA drives or a graphics card requiring additional power inputs is not a possibility. This leaves the Lenovo systems looking like a bad bet if future expansion is required, unless you buy a high-end system that has the extra power (and cabling) required for additional drives and workstation-level graphics. This little cable is part of the solution. With it, you can upgrade to a much better PSU and power all the components you need. However, there is one note of caution. You will notice on the cable that one of the grounding pairs (black) is looped. This allows the computer to be turned on directly from the motherboard, but it should be obvious that this is NOT configured like the original Lenovo PSU, which had this ground loop inside its own circuitry, allowing the PSU to turn on and off with the motherboard's signal. What this means is that whatever is powered directly by the 'new' (standard) PSU will be powered as soon as the PSU is connected to the mains and turned on, regardless of whether the computer is booted or not. This is fine for fans and graphics cards, but is NOT a good idea for hard disk drives - power those from the provided on-board connections if you can. Best of all, use a power supply with its own switch (or a remote switch) so that you can turn it on before booting the PC and turn it off after shutting down. So, in the end this cable may be an imperfect solution, but if intelligence is applied, the result is often a very capable computer at a very keen price.

A must-have for your Kate Bush collection
I bought this because I have it already on vinyl, but I can't be bothered to try and rip it and put it on a CD. It sounds just as good and as the last of Kate's albums before her 'holiday' before she came back with Aerial, it's a must-have in any Kate Bush collection - particularly if you want to keep your vinyls scratch-free! I must admit, though, I never liked the song with Prince much...

    Quality output.
Having got a W395 for Xmas with its standard in-ear phones and having been used to a pair of Sennheiser CX400-II earbuds, I needed something better. I bought this replacement headset simply for greater flexibility and better audio. I was surprised at the quality of the whole unit, which was excellent. It feels fairly robust and is definitely a step up from the original phones. The earbuds give good sound quality and are very comfortable to wear, keeping out most distractions (I use them frequently on the bus). One of the obvious features of this headset is the ability to use different phones or earbuds with the mic connector. I tried my Sennheisers in this way and the sound was a little sharper with better bass tones and was certainly quite a bit louder. The Sennheisers are a bit too long to use with this headset though and the original earbuds are more than adequate for most needs. All in all a very happy purchase. Good sound, quality feel and only slightly let down by the lower volume.
