how to get them to work properly as advertised

Might be just me but I couldn't figure out how to get the damn things to work. either stayed on all the time never went off I tried to set them reset them daylight use them outdoors, indoors right now I'm going to use them for targets. It wouldn't sell them if they didn't work would they it's got to be me shamefully admitting I bought the wrong thing.
