Priceless look at a forgotten moment in modern railroad history
This DVD captures an almost forgotten piece of history, when the Illinois Central and the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio merged to form the Illinois Central Gulf. That the ICG eventually renamed itself as just Illinois Central makes this video all the more interesting. Although these scenes were filmed post-Staggers Act, the ICG still has the look of a struggling road, almost akin to the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific. The various old, new and quickly fading paint schemes add to the general look of a road in trouble, yet today's IC looks nothing like the historical scenes that are presented on this awesome DVD. Well worth watching, even if you have no particular interest in the IC/GM&O/ICG/IC railroads and their history.
