Needs counter.
Rewinder works fine. Big drawback is that it does not have a counter: if you want to rewind only part way, it's hit and miss. My bad for not noticing it didn't have a counter. Next time, I'm getting one with a counter. Otherwise, good quality product if all you want is a full rewind.

Good Music CDR
Sony Music CDRs work well with most vintage CD Recorders including Teac, Tascam, TDK and Denon. The Onkyo CD recorders are very picky and sometimes Sony CDRs don't work. This is a good product if you can find it.

A Decent Recorder But Not The Best
Hard to rate this unit because on/off switch does not work well. It recorded from the different brands of Music cdrs I used such as Philips and TDK. That is a plus. You need the remote to program playback and record a selected set of songs. Without the remote you can only record the entire disc. The unit did not play recently recorded discs from the playback tray although the record tray did play such discs. The playback tray did, however, play discs I had recorded years ago. Go figure. I was able to use most of the functions without a manual so I guess it is relatively easy to use as I'm pretty techno-stupid. Is it well designed? I don't know. It has the usual digital/analog and in/out functions on the back. It also has an optical function on the front but I did not use that function. I do not like the remote at all- the print is small and very difficult to read. Trying to program songs to play/record was not easy. Recording externally was fairly straight forward and it was nice having volume control. I like the looks of this unit and it is pretty solid. But, It makes a lot of noise when it finally decides to turn on. That didn't bother me but just be aware. I don't know how I'd rate it against other units. It's ok, but not great.
