Everything I was looking for in a LPVO at a reasonable price!
3 of 3 found this helpful 1x magnification settings is clear with good enough quality and decent eye relief to be used as a red/green dot. It's illuminated, but even if the the battery dies on you, the reticle is etched into the glass so you can still utilize it, given there's enough ambient lighting. The BG4 reticle is the best option UTG offers for taking accurate ranged shots on the fly without adjusting your elevation.
Unlike most LPVO's that are limited to 4x or 6x magnification, a 24mm objective lens and a 1" tube... this thing gives you up to 8x magnification with a 28mm lens and a 30mm tube... giving you more ranging options, and with the larger apertures, allowing more light to get to your eyes for better brightness than I expected.
The glass quality is better than expected as well... I've read some reviews that notate a distortion at the outer edge of the glass on 1x magnification, but it wasn't noticeable enough for me to be a hindrance. I found myself having to change my eye relief when going from 1x to 8x magnification, but I probably have to find the sweet spot to negate that.
It's nice that it saves the brightness setting you left it at last and by pushing one of the two buttons on top, I can quickly turn on either green or red illumination. There are tons of other color options available, but unless you need that to correct for color-blindness, it has no other use that I can think of. For my purposes, that extra feature just added a little bit more bulk and weight I could live without.
Comes with a solid mount and decent flip-up lens covers that you don't have to spend more money on so that was a big plus for me.
Turret covers would have been nice for the BG4 reticle version. Seems redundant to have a ballistic drop compensation reticle and exposed target turrets.
The only feature I felt was missing was an upgrade I made to it. Purchased a 'Breakaway Nylon Coaster Cat Tail' and threw it on the magnification knob so I make my adjustments much more quickly.
I've seen tons of reviews on the durability and reliability of this scope but only time will tell with my own personal experiences.
Overall I would certainly recommend it if you're looking for a good all-around optic but don't want to break the bank.
