Brakes are making a grinding noise when ...

Brakes are making a grinding noise when I apply them while reversing. It's off and on, mostly duirng morning times. I took the car twice to the mechanic, but each time the sound just stopped at the mechanic shop. But next morning, it was again there. Mechanic says its safe to drive, its just I've to tolerate the noise......Ughhh. I am giving a 3 star as the braking itself is fine. Its just the bad noice that's bothering me and some eyebrows from neighbors.
