The flying wing
This is a pilot's guide to flying one of Northrop's flying wing aircrafts. They really weren't a success, because of some difficult technology. It's interesting seeing how the engineers tried to address these problems.

Platypus
Back at the beginning of the 1800's, the Industrial Revolution was going full force. There wasn't anything science couldn't solve. Science was God, and God was Science. Everything could be placed in its own box, with lines drawn to other boxes, showing how each box was related to the other boxes. It was a system that worked. And then, from Australia, came the platypus. Nobody could quite figure where to put the box for the platypus, and where to draw the lines to the other boxes. At first thought to be someone's idea of a joke, a beaver with a duck's bill sewen on, and webbed feet added for good measure, it was placed in several boxes, all of them wrong. This is the story of the great de4bate of how to classify the platypus, the arguements that developed, the egos bruised. As a study of the scientific method, it is very good. It shows how people allowed their petty biases get in the way of what may have been the correct decision. "It couldn't be correct because I didn't think of it." seems to be a big player. Facinating book on a facinating subject, the platypus.

Great movie
This is a great movie. The cast plays it like an old fashioned pirate movie. Scattered through the movie are one liners that give it the feel of a comedy, but a subtle comedy. You have to pay attention or you'll miss the good jokes.
