Docks poorly

My old roombas failed to dock well, and I would plug them in directly to power source, skipping the dock. This style does not have a way to skip the docking base, so many times when I think it is charging, the base and machine are not even making contact. The old styles use to glow the entire time charging also. This only glows for 30 seconds, so on e again it is never charged when I need it.
