Installed and problem solved.
I have been using Dorman products for many years and have always had good luck with their Fix It parts where they find a solution to a known problem. It appears well constructed. The wiring going through the lid does not appear as robust as the OE, but only time will tell. This does not worry me as the unit is advertised with a lifetime warranty and Dorman has stood behind every product that I have ever had an issue with, and I have only had one issue that I can recall. It beats the dealer price on something that you know will fail again in another 60,000 miles that the manufacturer is not looking to fix on their own product.
