Live Center is made of heavy steel or cast, has smooth bearings and appears to be of very good quality.
I was reluctant to purchase this center just from the limited description, however now that it has arrived I can tell you that it exceeds all of my expectations. This center is made of steel or cast and is heavy. The finish is excellent. The bearings are very smooth
I plan to find a wooden box (perhaps a wooden cigar box to keep it in to protect it. I recently found that you can purchase almost any size wooden cigar box from a smoking store for a dollar or so and a quality one at that. The center comes in two blocks of styrafoam.
Just as a note: Keep the speed down on the spindle and avoid using the spindle break as this live center has a lot of mass and may not stop quickly and can leave marks on the finish. That's my take. Hope this helps your decision.

Holder fits 5/8" tools with 1/32" clearance and will accept 16mm tooling also
This Shars AXA XL tool holder is oversize from std 1/2" rated to hold a 5/8" (0.625") tool.
The actual measurement of the opening on the one I received is approx 0.660" which is 0.035" oversize and will also accomodate 16mm (0.630") tool holders, which was one of my concerns with many tools being metric today.
My AXA tool post is a Phase II wedge type and these holders slide on and tighten perfectly. I can't say for sure they will fit an AXA Phase II piston type tool post, but I believe it would.
I'm giving the same review for the tool holder and the boring bar / toolholder with the "V" in the bottom.

I recommend this cover. It has a water ...
I recommend this cover. It has a water stop all the way across the top under the hinge. Other brands leak there onto the cords.
