    D-Link DIR-605L 300Mbps Wireless-N 2 x 5dBi antenna Router mydlink Cloud Service

Hasn't failed me yet, but the range is not as good as I had hoped for
My primary reason for buying this was to get better wifi range in my house, but that turned out not to be such a bright idea. Simple to get up and running. Have had it running continuously for about a month now, without failure. I was hoping this could reach the upstairs room on the other side of my 3000 sq foot home, but no luck. The range of this thing seems no better than my cheap bottom of the bucket TPLink router. But, for the price and reliability, I can't complain. I can get about 95 mbps out of this thing with the 100 mbit NIC in my old PC using speedtest (dot)net. My ISP and modem are supposed to provide several times that speed, but the computer NIC can't soak it up nearly that fast. However, at 95 mbps, my router no longer seems to be a bottleneck between the computer and modem, so I'm fine with the speed, at least as far as my limited 100 mbps test can discern. You would have to be a heavy, heavy home user to exhaust the speed of this thing. What I ended up doing to get whole house wifi coverage, upstairs and downstairs: I connected one of the outputs of this downstairs main router (fed directly by the modem) to an AC powerline adapter, and then set up my old cheap TPLink wireless router in the opposite upstairs end of my home - using a complimentary AC powerline ethernet adapter. And after doing all that, I found my old cheap TPLink wireless router actually could cover the entire house, but only if it was stationed upstairs. I assume this dlink router will have comparable wireless range if run in an upstairs location, though I haven't tried that experiment yet. (at that point I'm sure my AC powerline ethernet would be the bottleneck.) I guess the higher up you can mount these things, the better the range. Dual antennas doesn't seem to be significantly better than a single antenna. I think the way it works is the router picks which antenna has the best signal gain at the moment, and then proceeds to use it.

    Works good for the price
Not much water volume, and it smells like it is burning when running, but it gets the job done. Great for infrequent users who don't need the maintenance problems of a big gas powered unit.

    This stuff doesn't work
It makes your garage smell like wonderful smelling potpourri, but does nothing to chase away mice, at least from my experience. I think the mice get used to it, just like those useless ultrasonic nose generators. What I ended up doing is buying glue traps, which are effective, and then putting the little caught mice out of their misery with an overdose of automotive starting fluid. (That's basically just ether, the same stuff that dentists use to give you to put people to sleep during dental procedures in the old days.)
