Overpriced Mini Knife
The knife itself is of decent enough quality; it is set up as a 'neck-knife', with a chain and kydex sheath and being very lightweight. The knife is only 5 inches long, so the handle is 2&3/8 inches, and 1/4 inch thick, with a 2&1/2 inch long blade (2 inch cutting surface). Again the metal and the handle are decent enough quality, but the size of the knife is the issue. When holding it it feels like something out of a Crackerjack box. If someone were looking for a very small knife that is easily carried, even around one's neck, then this could work. The issue is that the pictures of the knife are deceptive -- not necessarily purposefully deceptive, but they give the impression that the knife is larger than it actually is. It most likely would be of utility to someone who needs a minimum length of cutting edge, and is happy to make do with this 'pee-wee' size. Because of its diminutive size, the price leaves one feeling that they've been somewhat fooled into paying over $80. dollars for something that is really too small to justify that price. I'm not sure most people would consider it worth half that amount. Perhaps the Spyderco name has something to do with what they're charging for it.
