I first saw this DVD at my friend's record store, where the owner was playing it to show a few people. The humor is satire--in his case a satire of terrible comics--and the resulting jokes are only for those who "get" the method of bringing laughs, which certainly won't include all people. Neil Hamburger's material is very subtle in this way, so a slew of jokes about the Red Hot Chili Peppers/Britney Spears/Kentucky Friend Chicken(fast food restaurants are a favorite target of his) are likely to confound some but make others like myself reel with laughter. A sampling: "Why did god invent Britney Spears? He wanted to perfect a method of transporting silicone into hell!"
Hamburger's delivery is almost pointless to attempt describing. He often deals with hecklers by simply clearing his throat loudly into the microphone, which you'll see him do many times in the fifty minutes of this DVD. Surely it drives those unable to see what his mission is up the wall. He holds not one or two but three drinks, cradling a couple under his arm through most of the show, which adds a nice touch to his greasy-haired, bespectacled, oddly-voiced insanity. The voice itself can possibly best be described as a 1940s-esque intonation with a bit of laziness in it that could remind one of a stoner, though the latter detail is probably not the aim.
Instantly after being introduced to Hamburger, he became my favorite comic. One could probably debate that Hicks, Carlin, Pryor, Lewis Black, and many others did something (possibly more?) creative, but as far as the laughs to jokes ratio, Hamburger has converted me with his mastery in this field. I recommend this to anyone willing to give it a try. You will be greatly rewarded. I knkow I was.

Zatanna Justice League Dark Action Figure DC Collectibles Brand *NEW* Sealed
Mar 29, 2016
Great but needs a stand...or something
This figure looks great. The legs aren't poseable in a wide variety of stances, etc. but she looks great and pretty faithful to her portrayal in the comics.
The biggest problem is that no stance seems to allow her to stand on her own at all--her feet have an angle that just doesn't allow for it. A stand would be awesome. As of now, she has to lean backwards against my bagged/boarded single issues on my shelf.
Giving it 5 due to her looks and that she's wearing a more truly Zatanna-esque costume, rather than that silly casual-wear-trend-in-comics outfit she has early on in Justice League Dark. Looks like a true magician! She also appears well-made, including the rubber cape, which I suggest removing from its packaging carefully so it doesn't get cut/marked.

Black Canary and Zatanna: Bloodspell by Paul Dini (English) Hardcover Book
Aug 14, 2018
Fantastic one-shot with 2 underrated characters
Had read this before, and just wanted it in hardback. Fantastic stand-alone story that explores Black Canary and Zatanna's characterization, charm, wit and even superpowers! Great cartoon-style art that suits this relatively lighthearted adventure. I remember almost wanting to cry at the final panel because I knew that was all there was to read!
