Lighter, comfortable, cooler, micro USB & USB-C (new apple) , 20% for viewing angle (distortion?)
The new VR headset is lighter with a nicer cooler face padding. The straps are angled more ergonomically and are more adjustable. There are additional vent holes and they really do help with the fogging or sweating. The lens cover fits flush and you cannot attach it with a phone mounted, it is only for when not in use, (this is not a problem because i dont know anyone who used the cover while in VR on the version 2). If you already have oculus on your phone then when you connect to the new headset there are some updates that need to install to adjust for the added sensors and the wider viewing angle. I have a Note 5 and there appears to be some distortion however I cannot say if it is my phone or the individual headset I purchased. Buttons are in the same places but the D-pad on the right side is smooth with no divets, this makes it harder to use without a controller.
Overall it is indeed a better headset and is more comfortable for longer sessions however I would not pay full samsung price for it. Please be considerate and give your version 1 or 2 to a friend with a compatible phone if you upgrade, everyone should try VR.
