best value; a truly remarkable Professional Broadcast camera/recorder combo
With the attached D9 format digital video recorder which is equal to if not superior to digital BetaCam, this 2/3" 4x3 aspect BROADCAST video camcorder offers 48v phantom power for the highest quality audio and standard definition video recordings possible.
Excellent low light and fully automatic color and gain control in almost all lighting situations, the ky-D29 is spectacularly vertical smear free when aimed at even the brightest objects and light sources due to the microscopic lenses on each pixel of the 3 2/3 inch chips.
Highly recomended for use with the D9 Professional S recorder players with the SDI option or component capture with a BOB avail from Matrox or Black Magic.
While no longer state of the art, using Avid studio capture --as in analog from a VTR device-- you can strectch the camera output to 9x16 ratio without sacrificing detail or resolution.
This, along with the high quality 2/3inch lens offers lossless generation of useable visuals for web streaming to rival many of today's smaller format high end 1 chip HD cameras at a fraction of the price....and it is fully GENLoc capable for multi camera applications with a digital or analog switcher.
Excellent value though the D9 tape is getting more dificult to locate

Safe power from sealed lead acid-air transportable power for broadcast cameras
Purchased as replacement cells for name brand broadcast equipment battery belt. Perfect replacement item for original 6volt 4.5ah sealed lead acid batteries that had failed due to long storage without recharging/trickle maintenance.
Four new cells connected in pairs in series and then parallel to render 12vols 9ah to cigarette lighter socket for mini-Frezzi 12volt broadcast camera light. Easy quick connects allowed for solder connections for stable consistent power delivery without unnecessary heat generation.
With the concern about the safety of the common camcorder lithium-ion batteries and similar powered electronics, these SLA batteries are approved for checked luggage and carry on aircraft as non-hazardous.
Older technology to be sure, and most often found in uninterrupted computer power supplies and home alarm back up power applications, and even kids' "power wheels" electric ride on toy cars and trucks, it still offers no-memory reliable power for extended use applications where overall weight is not critical.
An excellent near maintenance free solution to low voltage DC applications at an affordable price, which can be sent through the USPS.

SCD 80 Samsung 4:3 aspect DV Camcorder
I bought one new back in 2003; bought a second one to use just as a deck with Pinnacle Studio using a Firewire to connect to a PC..The Camcorder is very useful as an interface with PCs when editing video since it has the ability to record like a mush more expensive digital recording deck simply by connecting the IEEE1394 connector to the camcorder and PC, and then monitoring the playback with the svideo or composite connector to a TV/Monitor.
As a 4:3 aspect native camera it may be suprising to some that the playback during capture of tapes shot on another DV 3ccd 9:16 camcorder play through as recorded to the PC. I can see using this camera as a source player for many years to come for the SD DV video projects, and as a way to convert VHS and SVHS footage to digital format without many of the screen artifacts caused by computer capture boards.
Highly recomended item with outstanding features, that most aren't even aware of.
At throw away prices, it is also a perfect first camera for small elementary school children to learn how to settle down and shoot video using the Pinnacle editing products. They put the items together using the mouse like stacking LEGOS.
Its way more than just a good piece of electronics, well made and designed, its small enough to haul around all day, but big enough so the controls are easy to access.
