Great (and first) translation of the legendary arcade game.
OutRun is one of the many games Sega has ported quite well in many of its systems, and the very first port on the Master System shows that you can make a port of an arcade hit, and despite being downsized, it's still a classic which many should consider a legend in its own time which is one of the many hits which made Yu Suzuki a gaming industry legend.

Great Army Themed Action Side-Scroller
Thunder Fox for the Sega Genesis is a port of the 1990 arcade game of the same name by Taito. The plot of the game is a cliched tale of a militaristic terrorists threatening to take over the world. Of course, since sending the army would be too risky in diplomatic terms, they have two shirtless commandoes codenamed Thunder and Fox.
The game itself is your basic side scrolling action platformer in the vein of other classics like Rolling Thunder, and appropriately enough, Rush and Attack. The gameplay however is slightly different because the Genesis port removes the two player co-op feature that made the game fun, but it doesn't hinder the game too much. The stages are a bit lengthier than their arcade counterparts, which adds to the challenge, and some of the end bosses are slightly different (i.e. fighting an attack helicopter in Stage 1 instead of the tank as seen in the arcade version), but not too hard to defeat. The music which was rather upbeat in some points but quite fluid has been slowed down which gives it a serious tone in some cases. One feature gamers might take note with is that this game allows players to use weapons they pick up such as guns, assault rifles, and even bazookas as melee weapons which allow them to use the weapon's ammunition when a situation calls for gunfire.
To end this review, if you are looking for a decent side-scroller with Rambo-esque action, Thunder Fox is it.

Taito's Big Grand Slam in a Small Package
1 of 1 found this helpful The Taito Egret II Mini is one of several mini arcade cabinets that capitalize on the home arcade trend that was spawned by Arcade1Up, but unlike those cabinets, the Egret II Mini doesn't eat up much space.
The best feature is the ability to change from horizontal to vertical screen orientation with a push of the monitor bezel.
One thing to note is that while most of the roms are Japanese, they are still playable. The one exception to this is Cadash (an action platformer with RPG elements) where the entire dialogue is in Japanese and to fully enjoy the game, one must learn the language.
The 2nd best thing is it's portability which allows it to be taken anywhere (provided that you have a power bank with you).
