With a standard instrument 6 feet long the sound from the amp with volume and trim at maximum is extremely low. If you plan on using the bass (specifically a standup double bass) with passive pickups plan on using wireless instead of an instrument cable. Using a wireless system, I'm okay with the product. But its predecessor did not have this sensitivity issue.

Vintage Shure 55SW Microphone
Clearly this is NOT a wireless microphone, so don't be dissuaded from purchasing it fearing FAA violation. Not only a great voice microphone, but also a great studio microphone for stringed instruments such as mandolin.
