Such a let down
I have had this for a little over 2 months now. It was bought as a birthday present for my daughter, who just turned 2yr old. I managed to get a good deal on the purchase and only paid £60. My daughter is thrilled with the bike and loves to go out on it, however, I am not so thrilled.
The bike requires some intitail construction out of the box, which is not an issue, but the supplied toosl are very poor quality and not accurately sized, meaning that the 16mm spanner for example doesn't fit all the supposedly 16mm nuts. Unfortunatelty the qualty issues and attention to details (or lack of it) don't end there. Having put everything together it was apparent that there was no way to inflate the rear tyre as the inner tube had been installed the wrong way round, meaning that the valve stem pointed toward the brake drum, leaving no space to fit a pump. As the rear wheel comes pre-fitted this means I had to disassemble the brake to remove the wheel and inflate it. whilst not a major problem for me, this could have been for someone either unable to unwilling to start pulling the bike appart.
Further more there were no dust caps supplied with the bike, which is just plain cheap!!
After resolving this issue and actually using the bike for a number of weeks all the other little issues of poor quality and construction begin to show. The wheels are not true, so if you spin them you can see that they wobble and today the rear wheel was flat, as it would not hold pressure I had no choice but to remove the wheel and tyre and inspect the inner tube. It was immediately obvious what the issue was. The screws used to apply tension to the spokes were all uneven and sharp, masked only by a couple of wraps of electrical tape. The tape had worn through and cause a tiny puncture in the inner tube, which will now need to be replaced.
To sum it up I have to say I am very dissapointed in this product, esspecially considering it's RRP of £100. I am glad I only paid £60.
The bike has some very good features, like propper tyres and a brake and a handle on the seat to carry the bike, but unfortunalty there are just too many quality issues. Better quality parts and more attention to detail from the QA/QC guys and this would be a brilliant little bike.
Perhaps I have had a bad experience and not all teh bikes are like this, I have used other WeeRide products and been very happy, just not this time.
