Good looking but installation nightmare

Running boards arrived quickly and well packed. Hardware appeared to be decent quality, boards looked good too. Began install and that's when everything went sideways. Clipnuts don't grip like they should, but a quick squeeze in the vice fixed that. Then attempted to bolt on brackets. Bolts included are too short. They grab maybe 1-2 threads before you start tightening them. If I didn't punch the clipnuts tighter they didn't want to catch at all. The slots in the brackets weren't long enough, had to elongate the holes in my truck to make them bolt up. The plastic cover pieces for the bracket look good and match well, but cover the bolt holes for the running boards to attach to. Used my drill and a sharp bit like a router to rout out the slot in the plastic for the bolts. I have installed dozens of running boards and other vehicle accessories working for car dealers and these were by far the biggest pain in the butt of any I've done. That being said, once they were installed, they looked great. Just be prepared to modify the plastic parts, and go to the hardware store for longer bolts.
