Simple to replace defective unit in ASUS G75VW
1 of 1 found this helpful Very easy to install. The only sensitive part was swapping the flat black face with the ASUS curved face to it would not look odd. This took a few minutes to figure out there is one small screw and two tabs to release to remove the bezel, but the OEM unit and this new unit have identical external appearance and attachment methods so the fit was perfect.
The unit was recognized by Windows 8.1 without any new drivers and shows up as a Blu-ray unit. It not only fixed my defective CD/DVD multidrive, it upgraded me to Blu-ray! All you need to install this is a set of computer sized phillips screwdrivers and a pick to release the tabs on the bezel if you want to use the rounded ASUS bezel for better appearance.

Upgrade to OEM part that is no longer available.
This sealing ring has a different appearance than the OEM ring but fits and works perfectly. The material seems more pliant but it is possible the OEM ring had simply become harder with age. It simply fits and works fine in my pressure cooker which had started to develop minor seal leaks. Good as new for several more years!
