The Inspiron 1520 is the only laptop I have seen with a RAM card under the keyboard. To access it you have to push the screen all the way back, and pop off the panel in front of the screen. Then you must remove they keyboard by removing two Phillips head screws and pulling the keyboard toward the screen and up. Once it if free of the body, disconnect the cable. For both RAM cards, pull the small, white tabs away from the card. It will then pop up for removal. Replace both cards, pushing them down to seat them in the slots, then reassemble the laptop. For some people, the laptop will start with no problem, but sometime you have to restart it. To do so, before the “RAM amount has changed” notification comes up, access the BIOS menu. This may take some practice. Once in Bios, simply exit, and let the laptop boot. Once it boots, restart. Your RAM should now be successfully installed. As with any computer repair, always wear anti static protection, grounded to your unplugged computer.
I found this RAM to be high quality, easy to replace, and of high performance.

Quiet and fast
I bought this hard drive to replace the failing one in my Dell Inspiron 1520. After running diagnostics I found the drive to have no bad sectors (the listing said there could be up to 25). It was very lightly used, like new quality. My laptop now runs much quieter, and as fast as possible on Vista!
