Sleek, simple, functional, easy to clean
I was looking for a case that was not to thick and that would not make the iphone7 plus more bulky. As the phone is quite sleek I did not want to ruin that. The case fits nice and tight so debris will not easily get under it. I bought the one that had a black back that was not see through, since clear cases get scratched and look ugly.
Case has a nice grip to it and does not easily slide out of your hand.
Also buttons are all easily accessible without allowing the switches to be touched inadvertently.

Sony SCD-C555ES: Brilliant Engineering from the past
4 of 4 found this helpful Let's state the bad news first. Only one thing that I can see. It has no control of the power button remotely.I have solved this by plugging this unit into a powered outlet on my preamp. Many of these units and similar units are not coming up for sale on ebay. I quess the era of Ipods and streaming videos/ audios have taken over.
That being said this unit is now available for a price that is affordable to more of us 'old world' audiophiles.First by comparison I have several units to compare to; all Sony's. Two are mega changers and one that is the Sony 595 unit. I also have a similar Sony SCD-C333ES (which does not have surround sound outputs for 5.1 SACD. I am not yet using the 5.1 surround sound feature.
The 555ES and the 333ES sound very similar, wonderful and completely blow away the older technology mega changers that I have. The 555 in particular has a perfect sounding bass management system. Both the 555 and the 333 blow away the 595 unit, which itself is better than the older mega changers.
Specifically the sound of the 555 is more present than the run of the mill CD players. It also can be pushed more with sound processing equipment from say DBX before you hear artifacts or hiss from voices. A Bobby Darin CD, not even SACD bring his voice alive, you'd think he was in the living room. Wife can also enjoy the music of all varieties more with this player. I can play louder before her female intermodulation distortion meter kicks up. This was before reserved to my vinyl and analog recordings. Not sure if it's IM distortion or lack of it that's doing this or just because it sounds less digital, less cold.
Transport wise the unit is flawless. The X change system is great, works well, relatively quick and seamless. Shuffle play is pretty quick but I would say no better than a standard CD player relative to time between selections.
Critical listening with diverse music presented clearer sharper highs than my other players, and superb bass. Music used for comparison was Fleetwood Mac, presenting some great drumming, Dire Straits, Sultans of Swing, great mix of band sounds, all very foward in the sound field, Kenny G and last but not least Dave Matthews Band, specfically, Watch Tower, Ants and Grey Street. Vocals by Nora Jones, Diana Krull, Elvis, Bobby Darin were exemplary. Additional Bands that presented very well with cleaner more full bodied sound were, U2 Streets with no name, Bon Jovi and a spectacular band from the Scottsdale AZ called Eastonashe.
Playing an SACD, two channel only it actually acquits itself quite well even when I compare it to my analog recordings on Tape and on vinyl. I won't say that its as good as a great condition vinyl from the likes of the Command, Audio Fidelity or London Four Phase labels, but it is quite good.
If you want great sound and don't want to bother with vinyls, recording to a reel to reel or have a Nakamichi cassette deck than this is the way to go. This 555ES unit with SACD is great, well built and is up to 90% of good vinyl without the hassle. It also does a better job of playing regular CD's than my other Sony units.
By way of reference I am playing all of these through vintage equipment, Crown DL2 preamp,Crown PSA-2x power amp, Crown EQ2 equalizer, technics SL1210M5G turntables, Shure V15 Type IV cartridge, Akai GX-747 tape decks and occassional use of DBX 4BX processor and other related DBX equipment. Speakers are vintage Rectilinear III high boys.
