Trouble linking replacement controller with drone

It's a replacement for my old one that has bent charging pins so it won't charge. I am having problems connecting the new controller to my DJI Macvic drone. My old controller will still connect but it's battery charge is low. this replacement is fully charged but for some reason I can't get them to link yet. I'll have more time to try in the middle of September when I'm at my farm where the controller and drone are located.
