worth a listen
This CD is a collection of a lot of the early works and some obscure works. The collection is more of a history lesson then one for pure entertainment. But worth a listen.

good trio example
This recording is a great example of a live trio. When playing a trio the musicians have more freedom to enhance the sound and improvise. This recording also shows the versatility of the musicians and how hard they are working. Before Elton John went on to be the superstar he is now, here is a recording of only three musicians punching out some good rock and roll.

something missing from the music.
1 of 1 found this helpful I last listened to this recording many years ago. At the time I thought the music was technically good but found something missing from the music.
I now realize that the music has no depth and lacks counter point and polyrhythms. The drumming by Palmer is fast but simple, a lot more could have been done there. Lake is hardly contributing in the bass or the guitar. The dominant instrument heard is the keyboards. The transitions from one phrase to another are sometimes out of place. Overall, this band contributed to the music of today, but they would not be popular today.
