J.Herbin 1670 Anniversary Bottled Ink, 50ml - Caroube (H150-45)
Mar 14, 2017
Gorgeous, deep aqua, with glitter!
Need I say more? This J. Herbin Emerald de Chivor is full of shimmery silvery nano particles that deliver such an incredible shiny sheen to my writing. The aquamarine teal-y hue definitely delivers fine shade variations in addition to the sheen, sometimes pooling so dark, it's like being in the depths of the emerald mines which lends its name to this ink. Despite the glitter being so very prolific, I haven't had any problems with clogging in the fountain pens I've tried it in. But I have intentionally chosen pens which are wet writing with at least a medium sized nib. If used with a fine nib, I'm not sure how well the shimmery aspect of the ink will be noticeable. And inside the box, there's a little booklet which, in addition to giving a little glimpse at J. Herbin's history regarding emeralds and the Chivor mines, tells you not to leave the highly saturated ink in a fountain pen for too many days. So I made sure to only put the ink in pens that I am able to disassemble completely. Let's see, what else? Oh yes, packaging. As part of the 1670 line, J. Herbin has chosen some special packaging, where the textured cardstock box has its own ink specific artwork. The little square bottle is truly special, featuring a color matched 1670 wax seal on the front and over the cap, signifying which color ink is in the bottle. So yeah, buy this special occasion ink and get writing! You're sure to find many more special occasions to use this ink if you had it. Choose your words wisely because words are powerful and your word deserves to be heard.

Retro Vintage Pencil Pen Case Cosmetic Pouch Pocket Brush Holder Makeup Bag

Sturdy vinyl pen roll
This pen pouch has a nice design that protects the pen caps from bumping up against one another when rolled up. The material used feels cheap, but hey, for less than a dollar shipped, it is cheap. You get what you pay for, and I'm not complaining. The color of the vinyl makes it looks luxurious. This holds 7 pens and 4 travel ink wells safely and securely in my bag. It would probably hold far many more paint brushes. Great value and i expect this to last a good long time.
Classic JINHAO 599 Transparent Blue Medium Nib Fountain Pen Hot
Mar 09, 2017
Perfect cheap fountain pen
The nib is smooth, the price is right. It's a homage top the Safari but the key difference is that it's nor overpriced like the Safari. Plus it uses standard international cartridges and cartridge converters unlike the proprietary ones required of the Safari. Don't get me wrong- I adore my Safari. It's one of my absolute favorite writers, and yes it's better quality than this Jinhao 599 but is it 15 TIMES better? The Safari lays down a smoother line for sure, but is it 15 TIMES smoother? I really enjoy the Jinhao 599 and it's great being able to see through the demonstrator body to view how much ink I have left. The only thing I wish is that the cut out windows in the barrel wasn't actually cut out, because then, the pen could be converted into an eyedropper fill, and the entire barrel could be used as the ink reservoir. But I'm not complaining. This is a very well built fountain pen, outside of costing $2 shipped.(!), manufactured with strong, thick, plastic and stainless steel. They paid attention to detail when designing this pen. Although inexpensive, it doesn't feel cheap. There's some parts on the plastic where I can feel the mold lines, but hey, this isn't a Mont Blanc, and I have zero complaints. And it comes with its own cartridge converter so you can use any bottled ink you wish. For anyone considering getting into fountain pens, I highly recommend this pen. It's a perfect starter fountain pen. The medium sized nib is good for being able to see the qualities of whichever ink you're using. And having those options, having variances in not only your choice of ink color, but the variances in shading along each individual letter you draw, being able to see the iridescent sheen in certain inks, ink quality, is one of the primary joys of using a fountain pen. The medium size nib lends itself well to showing ink quality. Too fine a nib, and unless you plan on doing tiny writing- micrography, your handwriting might look too spidery, like your frail, shaky hand 90 year old aunt's writing. Too broad a nib, when starting out with fountain pens, and your letters might run into one another illegibly, forcing you to write large letters, and you'll feel like you're in elementary school again. Medium is a good place to start. So yeah, go buy this beautiful shiny blue pen and get writing! Choose your words wisely because words are powerful, and your word matters.
