It's no $600 dollar projector, but for 1/3 of the price, its a good deal.
1 of 1 found this helpful If you want a big screen and you aren't concerned with watching full HD quality video, then this is absolutely perfect.
To give you an idea about how usable the resolution is,the native 640 x 480 is good enough to use a 800 x 600 desktop without having to struggle much with text. At 1024 x 768, things get to where you can't really make out text. It accepts just about any resolution you throw at it, but it just converts it down to 640 x 480. But, at 640 x 480, you can seen enough details to play most games and play any movie without missing anything. Really not bad considering broadcast television used to be 512 x 384.
Brightness is the next big consideration. I used to own a cheap-o projector made by some anonymous Chinese company that used a standard 12V 50W track light. It was pretty cool, but it was not really bright enough unless it was used in a completely dark room. The Favi can be used during the day with the blinds closed. With the blinds open, the image is still visible, but quite weak. In a partially to fully darkened room, the brightness is actually quite good and a great value at $200. However, the image does wash out a little in very bright scenes.
It's also ridiculously light and portable. There are some creative things you can do with it... like drive to the park with an inverter, hang a sheet from a tree, put the projector on the hood of your car and have a romantic evening at your personal drive-in.
Good product as long as you're not out of your mind chasing the best HD video.
