You won't be able to put it down

Don't let the daunting size of this epic novel put you off. You will not be able to put it down. There are a lot of "players" in the novel, and it takes a bit of time to get to know them all, but once you do, the story races along and you become caught up in the intrigues and betrayal of 11th century England. You feel the joy and pain of the characters as if you were there with them. Ken Follet not only writes compelling characters and villins you love to hate, but he also paints a picture of life and times in an often difficult era, when there were really only 3 classes of people: men of God, the nobility and the poorest of the poor. His interweaving of these three classes is what gives Pillars of the Earth a depth that I have not seen in very many books. I would highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys historical fiction with a goodly dash of danger, betrayal and romance mixed in for good measure.

Superb writing, great characters and lots of laughs

BBT is very funny, with excellent writing and very endearing characters. Great for a "marathon weekend" or a quick escape!

A children's classic

This was one of my children's favorites growing up. The songs are lively and fun, Murray's voice is lovely and there is a good mix of songs to enjoy.
