High quality build, intuitive button control, with nearfield task light.
This light impresses me most with its build quality, second would be the downward-firing task light which I found to be perfect for nearfield tasks at night such as grilling, then followed by its ease of use, and intuitive button switch. I would say the light is not bright as other lights, but not dim either, more or less it puts out plenty of light for most typical functions. I would not consider it lightweight as in the category of 'ultra light' but slightly more heft which I believe has to do with its build quality. However, I did not find its weight to be noticeable. I believe durability would go along with its higher build quality and one of its selling points. For me, the task light put out good light in the nearfield without a bright beam being thrown around beyond the task area drawing attention or shining on others.

Exceptional buy for great litttle CD player/ CD transport/network/media player
I am using the Denon DN-700C, purchased used/refurb, here on E-Bay, for about half price of new retail ($599). I received the unit two days prior to its scheduled delivery date, so the seller, The DJ Store, was very exemplary with price, shipping (free), and quality of product.
Condition:
It arrived and was packaged from the factory with a document that it had been inspected by Denon Professional and found to be in working order. It was packaged as if brand new, wrapped in a foam type wrap along with plastic bubble wrap. It came with a standard power cord, a remote control, new package of batteries, quick start guide manual, and two CD ROM discs containing the full operating manual and drivers for network interface, (I presume a brand new disc was placed in the package along with the original disc, prior to refurb). As far as I could tell, it appeared to be brand new with no scratches, marks, or other indication of being previously used or owned.
Features:
The Denon DN-700C is a low profile (about 2" height), full rack width, and slot fed CD player. These were some of the basic features that was required in the quest to find a CD Player/transport for my desktop system. Additionally, this unit is a professional/studio quality CD player with balanced analog outputs, unbalanced analog outputs, balanced & unbalanced digital outputs, and many programing variables. One such capability was the ability to use it as a network player using an Ethernet connection. After connecting the player to the router it immediately was recognized and connected to the computer network, without any set up on my part. The player could now be used as a network player, and was able to find, and play audio files from the server. It quickly detected music files on my computer, wav and MP3, allowing the unit to be used as an interface, to control and play back those audio files from the server to the DAC. After loading a driver from the provided CD, a virtual interface was loaded onto the computer, which remotely controlled the player and all of its custom features, via the web browser (I am using Chrome). Other neat features, the ability to control preset and system settings to include the brightness/dimmer of both the display and the blue LEDS of the physical buttons. I find this is a nice afterthought feature that gives credence to the idea that the player does have a lot of little extras and is thought out. It's nice for me, as the player can be dimmed so not to be a distraction or annoyance since it is in front on the desktop. It also has a "media" button which when depressed, features options of playing from CD, USB device such as an USB drive, IPOD/IPhone, and network. Since it is professional, it does also have the ability to be password protected, to manually input network addresses, increase/decrease gain from output, mono/stereo, and even left and right trim of the output. It even allows the ability to increase/decrease pitch of the recording, not that I have this need myself. The Denon screen saver on the player is another nice little extra. There's several extra features that allows for setting the player up according to preferences and according to different situations. Other programmable features not mentioned here, are related to professional venue type functions.
The remote is a fully functional remote control, not really exceptional, but it is good/useful, and allows full function of the player. However, one thing of note, It does have a volume control for the units output gain.
Function:
I am using it as a CD transport, utilizing the AES balanced digital out, to a standalone DAC, Grace Design m920, for a desktop/nearfield sound system.
It operates very well and there are no issues at all. The digital output via AES balanced to DAC has been very clear, clean, accurate, precise, (you get the picture), of course its sound quality is dependent on the music source; so if source format is well recorded and hi-res, the sound quality is as good as can be expected and does not disappoint. I am really liking the ability to control the unit through the network browser. At the moment, I am listening to Keb' Mo' and Joe Ely CD over this player, and enjoying it very much.
Equipment:
Desktop system, Netgear WIFI/Ethernet router, DAC/preamp is GRACE DESIGN M920 - USB2 connection to desktop, Denon DN700C Network CD/media player/ transport, Genelec M030 monitors, JL Audio d108 Dominion 8" subwoofer. For cables, an Audioquest "Irish Red" subwoofer cable (unbalanced). For speaker cables, two (L & R) balanced Mogami/Neutrick Gold 6' cables and balanced AES digital XLR Mogami/Neutrick Gold that were custom made by ProAudio LA.

Bosch GLM 165-40.... is it a keeper?
Very nice unit. It has a "quality" feel to it. Small size, about the size of a hand-held digital voice recorder. The measurements are almost instant. If you are looking for a quality unit that does basic measurements well for a low price... this might be it. With what I know now, I would buy it again if I were to do it over.
