    Rank Redux
Lifton , Nazi Doctors, uses Ranks theory of doubling in his book and I decided to seek out the original articles . Now we would call this moral splittling but the clinical manifestations of doubling still hold ..

    Brilliant synthesis
Written by a British historian with a fine hand for accurate and clear prose, this book is both illuminating and rewarding in its scope . Taking a erarly period in social history he clearly demonstrates the origin of most of our social bias today . Worth every effort

    Cintinuous Learning
I was writing on the Nazi take over of Germany when I happened on J Lears terrific book . I wanted to understand the forces at work in America prior to the outbreak of the First European war. I started with the last chapter and them absorbed the entire book .... It is exceptionally well written and referred to another excellent historian Slotkin's book on Gunfighter Nation. The Image of America and the manliness of the false image of the frontier has led to an encoding of male ness as equivalent to being a killer . The Quaker perspective on violence only enhances this perspective .
