RIP ROARING ENTERTAINMENT!
I saw this movie some years ago and tried to find it on DVD to no avail. Now it seems that it has been remastered and released on bluray which is great!
This is one of the most incredible movies ever made! many dozens of big wild cats roaming around a private property in Africa. And when I say wild, I mean wild! These beasts do not have formal training and most of them were raised in the wild and interact with humans on the property. They come and go as they please and actually sometimes large numbers of them occupy the owners house. The scenes in the owners house are hilarious. There are Tigers, Lions, Panthers, Jaguars and more...And they all interact with each other and the humans.
To watch these majestic beasts get up to their comical antics is more entertaining than any Big Cat wildlife movie ever produced in my opinion. This movie has a story line however, the Big cats do not follow a script and the comical situations that envelope the actors, and the real and natural interaction of the Big cats makes this true reality film making at it's best. In my opinion it is even better than the Meer cat manor documentary for entertainment value.
The movie comes in two versions on this Bluray. The theatrical release and the directors cut.
The only draw back with this directors cut is that the additional footage was retreived from the only surviving German archives. The new footage comes from a German backup and unfortunately is in German audio with english subtitles available. This only applies to the extra footage that makes the directors cut. The standard English theatrical release is in English.
This is one of the best movies ever made and deserves far more recognition than it received! There is one scene were two lions battle away and the property owner steps in and gets injured. Dripping profusely with blood he seems undisturbed and takes the injury in stride as he goes back to his house. Upon arrival wild lions are in the house and greet him and lick his blood to clean his wounds! Apart from this particular scene that show some typical wildlife violence and some real human blood, I would recommend this film for family viewing.
This movie was originally made to fund the property where the Big Cats can find sanctuary. Many wildlife films and movies donate monetary funds to support such wildlife. Please be aware of such entertainment media and support it. Avoid media that exploits wildlife and does not give any monetary, survival or protective support back to the natural actors of our great planet. Afterall, movies such as Roar could never have been made without such support.
Whether you are a fan of Big Cats or not, please support this and buy this movie, you will not regret it, ever!!!!!

Good Value Nostalgia
This item is a fairly hard to find item at a good price, so when I found it at a good price I purchased it. I never really had a chance to watch it back in the day. Now that I have it, I enjoy watching the shows. The series has a somewhat ambiance indicative of the 6 Million Dollar Man or the movie Logans Run from the 70's, such as music, tag line continuity, technology etc.., although more science fictiony. It's a little corny although If you are a science fiction fan you should enjoy this series.
