Inexpensive, and only 3-4 degrees off
6 of 7 found this helpful For this price, I didn't expect much, and it works,however it's 3 -4 degrees off right out of the box (unless water boils at sea level at 207-degrees). Feels cheap but, i's $15.00 total...the magnets are useful. So, it works, and it's possible most other thermos at this price aren't spot either. The real test is how long continues to only be 3-4 degrees cooler. The last one (different model) lasted for about a year before it fell to about 20 degrees off.
FWIW, you check food thermometers in boiling water, not hot tap water; tap water temps can fluctuate, and you may not know what the temp of hot water actually is. Hopefully this unit is precise, i.e. it measures the same way every time, and I just remember that 141 degrees is actually 145.
