About
I try very hard to be true to what I am and love what is there for me...I am what I have become because of the past, and this is why I love the vintage and the antique. These are the wisps of my youth and the dreams from the ancestors.

Another wonderful Rutherfurd to get lost in- must read!
1 of 1 found this helpful I read and re-read Rutherfurd's first epic, "Sarum", with great intensity...this was part of my own history and I wanted to know. By weaving the facts and events with well-constructed fictional but eminently believable families and bloodlines, one can step into the story and learn world history without even realizing that they have done so. If only the classroom would have presented the timelines and battles, kings and warlords and all of the intrigue that, in retrospect, makes so much sense of the present, we all would have gotten "A's" in our history classes!
I purchased this book after reading the second of the Ireland sagas- nothing like starting at the end and working backwards, I say. It didn't matter that they were out of order in my list- Rutherfurd is such a fine story-teller that each of his historical fictions stands alone.
This story of ancient Ireland, as the one that follows in accompaniment, "The Rebels of Ireland" is truly a masterpiece of bipartisan interpretation and illuminated perspective. It tells of the complicated upheaval and intricate religious undercurrents that shape the landscape of Britain, Wales, Scotland and Ireland- sending tsunami waves overflowing into the rest of the world. For someone like myself, who isn't a world-traveler, this is the way to see it happen in my mind. Rutherfurd takes you to the moment, both historically and through the eye of a discerning artist. You fall in love with the land and the people, yet you are seeing all angles through the fine sieve of recorded fact.
I fully intend to read every account of any place Edward Rutherfurd wishes to pen...it puts so much into perspective and fills in gaps that might have been dangerous in the rugged field of the mind's wanderings, while touching the reader's heart with the humanity.
Anyone can read this...it isn't the lightest of tales- but it is mesmerizing and beautifully woven. I have to force myself to shut the book and go to sleep.

Soft and Cute!
This adorable hat is a great fit for any head, and is so soft! It is perfect for any age, since it isn't over-the-top, and stays put really well on my fine hair. Really happy- wish there were lots more colors!
