A modest workhorse with incredible reception!!
First of all GREAT RECEPTION!!! I had this phone for about 2 years, I used to think reception had much more to do with the carrier but after switching to a Motorola V180 for awhile I found out that the phone does have a lot to do with it. I couldn't get reception with the V180 anywhere but the Nokia had no problems in the same areas. If you live in an area with poor coverage then I highly recommend this phone. This is a really great phone, it's simple, cheap, tough, and reliable. It's not the best looking phone nor does it have a thousand features. It's just a cell phone that works. A couple minor complaints: 1. The Alarm is pretty useless, it's just a quiet little beeping noise, and you can't change it.. which is dumb. 2. You can't scroll through a text message while your writing it, so if you want to change something at the beginning of your message you have to go back through the message letter by letter. 3. It would have been nice if it had a speakerphone.. but for the price you can't complain! Just a little comment here, but I wanted to say that I find it very strange when people critisize cheap simple phones for not having enough features ...thats why they're CHEAP!! You wouldn't critisize a $14,000 Toyota Tercel for not having the performance, features, and design of a $150,000 Lamborghini would you?

Great little phone, good reception, cheap, reliable!!!
I have had this phone for a few months now and I'm very happy with it. It looks nice and is pretty stylish. It's small and fits into your pocket easily (4"long, 0.76"thick, 1.68"wide). It's more rugged than i expected, I treat my phones pretty harshly and it barely has any scratches to show for it. I like that the antenna is internal and therefore can't break off and doesn't take up extra space. As I've come to expect from Nokia it gets great reception! Some say that this has more to do with the service than the phone but I had a Motorola V180 before this and I could barely get reception anywhere and I had the same service as I do now. The battery lasts long enough, I would say it's kind of mid-range for cell phones, some phones' batteries last longer some shorter, but it definetly hasn't been a problem. I charge mine about once every 3 days. It's tri-band so I can use it in Europe. The speakerphone on it works well, the sound is pretty clear and it gets loud enough for most situations. It has quite a few features for a farely basic phone, alarm clock, calendar, MMS, IM, stopwatch, countdown timer (which is suprisingly usefull!), voice recorder (which you can use to record songs to use as your ringtone), some decent games, and some internet features which i dont understand and never use. There are a few cons: 1.It doesn't have external volume buttons, so if it's too quite or too loud while you're in a conversation you have to press the left arrow on the keypad and then right arrow to turn it up or keep pressing left arrow to turn it down. It's difficult to do without interrupting the conversation. 2. The background (wallpaper) images it comes with are really terrible, i don't know what they were thinking, there is only one I can even bear to use. But I'm pretty sure you can upload you're own images or use a picture someone may have sent you per MMS. 3. WHen writing a text message you can't press up arrow to capitalize a small letter or vice verca which you can do on other phones, you have to press the # key then type the letter and then press # again to change it back to small letters. It's just quicker the other way. 4. You can't designate which key does what (ex. have up arrow go directly to calculator), which was a feature i liked on the V180, but their set up is pretty logical. All in all, it's a great reliable phone, and very reasonably priced.

    terrible reception - otherwise mediocre
I bought this one to replace my somewhat outdated and bulky nokia, but after a few months i went back to the nokia because this phone simply dosn't get reception anywhere. I always thought that that had much more to do with the provider but after putting my sim card in the old nokia and using it in the same places i realized that it was the phone. Now I use the nokia and I get reception just fine with the same provider. Also the speakerphone is unbearibly fuzzy on all but the lowest volume and likes to do funny things like not hang up a call after i press the end button repeatedly, i often have to take out the batteries to stop it when that happens.
