Essentially zero history of the horse-drawn mower -- so disappointing
Given the title, and for the price, I expected much more on the history of the horse-drawn mower. There was zero mention of the Ketchum Mower, which was the granddaddy of the mowers featured in this book. I'm so disappointed. The title is quite misleading.

Just buy it!
U571 hits on all cylinders: tense, suspenseful drama; WWII intrigue & subterfuge; realistic actor portrayals; creative thinking during life-threatening situations; authentic good-vs-evil; excellent cinematography; believable & gripping story; and triumphant flawed heroes. The movie was a pleasant surprise, especially given that its lead isn't the best of actors (e.g., he can't even act well in simple car commercials). I bought an extra DVD copy to share, which I seldom do. Just buy it!

An enjoyable movie that's: obscure & under-rated; a future comedy classic; most of all oh so funny
1 of 1 found this helpful This movie is not well known. That's a shame because it deserves better. Bowfinger the movie is really funny, but you probably need to watch it 2-to-3 times to fully appreciate how funny it is.
Overall, Steve Martin's humor takes some getting used to, but it doesn't take long. Steve Martin wrote this movie, and plays the title character Bobby Bowfinger, so his humor abounds. It's not the sort of intellectual comedy that came from the British Monty Python group back in the 1960s. But you kinda-sorta need to be on his wavelength to fully appreciate Steve Martin's comic genius (he probably winces every time he hears those two words used with his name). Add to that the comic genius of Eddie Murphy (as brothers Kit and Jiff Ramsey) and you have a double-dose of comedic genius here.
The director and rest of the cast provide the needed support to ensure that Martin and Murphy make us laugh. There are some terrific actors and actresses here who help make this movie the obscure gem it really is.
If nothing else, watch this movie just to see how Bowfinger's dog almost steals the movie in the parking garage scene. If I were to create a list of the 50 All-Time Funniest Movie Scenes, that parking-garage scene would be near the top.
To be honest, some of the other scenes in Bowfinger might even make that Top 50 List. Another funny scene is where Jiff Ramsey has to walk across a busy freeway, and afterward he screams how he's lucky to be alive and that he hopes he never has to ever do anything that dangerous ever again. Bowfinger tells Jiff that all those fast-moving vehicles were all being driven by stunt drivers (right, sure they were) and that many of them radioed in to say that Jiff's acting was fantastic. Then Bowfinger tells Jiff "do it one more time, OK?"
Please don't over-think buying this DVD. Just buy it, watch it, and then watch it again. After that, eight-to-five says you'll tell friends about this obscure movie. Just don't spoil it by telling them details about the parking garage scene. Let them find that comedic gem for themselves, along with all the other funny stuff.
Thanks for reading my review.
