Underripe blueberries, over priced, but 30 year shelf life.
1 of 1 found this helpful The 30 year shelf life is impressive. When I opened a can, I found not one, but two oxygen absorbers. The cans are good and sturdy, and the welds are nicely coated on the inside, to protect the contents.
If you want to use the contents over a few weeks, I suggest transferring the blueberries to ziplock bags, so you're only exposing a smaller proportion at a time, to ambient humidity. Should help keep them from turning mushy before you use them all.
My main complaint is that these berries aren't very sweet. I guess I've been spoiled by the over priced Trader Joe's brand freeze dried blueberries. Quality fruit is not underripe, but just ripe. Also, the Trader Joe's blueberries are definitely crunchier, seem more dry.
I understand these are for prepping, for extended emergency use, and the freeze drying adds to the expense, but the price was recently raised from $20 per can. Yes, the pandemic is causing supply chain issues, but this price is too high for under ripe, non organic, pesticide raised canned fruit.
I recommend it for your prepper's pantry, for the long shelf life, but beyond that, am not thrilled.

Replaced plastic with stainless steel.
Fits both, 5001 & 6001 Acme Supreme Juicerator models.

impressive looking, but not so great.
It's a beautiful looking tool. The format is handy. Unfortunately, utility is only ok. The cutting wire is rather long, and doesn't hold tension well. Wire seems to be stretching during use, and the tool therefore needs adjusting quite often. I'm concerned the wire will fatigue soon, and break.
It arrived with the wire loose. Tried to tighten the wire by turning the knurled adjuster by hand, but that didn't work out, so I used a small channel lock style pliers to get it done.
No instructions on how to maintain it, or how best to tension the wire properly. If you're handy with your hands, you can make it work, but longevity remains to be seen.
