LESS IS EXTREMELY LESS
This mini model of the robust and well-made large APPLEGATE-FAIRBAIRN GERBER COMBAT FOLDER is fragile and without quality control. I ordered two. One operates smoothly and well. The other's action was stiff and has quickly failed. It will not close. It will require disassembly and repair. The lack of sufficient material bulk in the handle along with the undersized, weak action bearings is this knife's ACHILLES HEEL.
Cute knife! Not mechanically strong enough to actually be of use beyond opening letters.
UPDATE: A week or so after submitting the above review, I disassembled and repaired the one faulty knife of these 2. (I would not recommend doing this tedious task to ANYONE!) It works, but not well. It is just usable.....

A BEAUTIFUL "USER"
2 of 2 found this helpful Having collected many knives over decades that have appreciated in value and are NEVER used so as to not depreciate them, I think it is refreshing to know that beautiful AMERICAN made knives like this can be both used and admired for what they truly are, a fabulous tool to take pride in every time it's used. If it begins to show its age from use, BUCK KNIVES company will even sharpen and shine it up for a nominal fee.
Owning this 7808 GENERAL is like finding out the beautiful woman you just married is a fantastic cook!

BAD RUN?
I bought two and had to return both. Both jammed badly. Probably a bad run from the manufacturer.
Lucky the seller cheerfully accepted a return for refund.
