A powerful tour de force from director Lynch!
If you were fascinated by the Twin Peaks series then you must see this movie. It is a prequel to the events in the TV series and explains and illustrates a lot of the happenings that were only alluded to or partially explained. It is much more graphic, however, so I would not recommend this movie for anyone under age 15 unless it is watched with a parent or guardian. It is probably the most graphic, and gut-wrenching depiction of incest I've seen and, in case you are wondering, manages to do this without sinking into pornography. Incestuous rape is shown for what it is - an act of terrible violence and complete betrayal. There are elements of the film that touch on the supernatural, or even psychotic, so it can be unsettling for sensitive viewers. Having mentioned all of these caveats I will close by emphasizing my belief that this movie is one of the all time greats, and is probably the masterpiece of a talented director and writer.

Great book, compelling subject. Highly recommended.
If you want to know what happened at "Iverson's Field" during the Battle of Gettysburg, you need to read this book. Well written, with good maps, and well documented, it is hard to imagine anyone doing a better job writing about this topic.

Great 60s movie.
Love this movie. It is kind of dark and depressing, but the acting is great. Love the 60s. I had seen it a couple of times in the mid 1970s on TV. I hadn't seen it since then and was searching for years online. Finally found it in England. Had trouble viewing it because of the region code, but was able to watch it on my computer.
