Tiny and overpriced but high quality
0 of 2 found this helpful It's as you can expect from BanDai. Quality and detail is as good as it can be, but I wish they'd find a way to keep the proce down and make larger models. This thing is very tiny but has excellent detailing. But they sacrifice a lot too keep these things snap together. I wish they'd do glue kits that were as detailed but larger.

Good product for the price, love the free shipping too!
....BUT expect the shipping to take over two months. There are other considerations too...
Something like this is suitable for the hobbyist or modelmaker but isn't for the highly skilled and dedicated professional who is serious into very fine airbrushing. It is more cheaply made and less serviceable than the brand names like the Badger 150 that this one is roughly modeled on but about 1/10th of the price (note: parts are NOT compatible with a Badger). Expect a relatively short life span with this unit when compared to heftier and better built brand names. But I'm really hard on airbrushes anyway so when I break them, I'd rather pay $15 for a new one like this than $120. This is my second such model so far. I'll likely end up buying more of them in the future.
Also, you can't order replacement parts if something breaks, but then, for the price of this thing it's just easier to get another one if you break it and probably costs the same (or less) for a new unit than replacement parts for a name brand. The name stuck on the side as seen in the picture is just a sticker that you might as well remove before using it. Lacquer thinner will remove the gunk left on after peeling it off.
The big misses with this particular model are the very tiny, delicate and easily damaged rubber O-rings (several of them used) that are necessary for it to work properly, and some of them are very fine, almost the thickness of circular hairs, so be careful not to lose or damage them when you take it apart for cleaning. Be VERY careful when putting them back on as they have a tendency to swell when soaked in thinners, so let them dry overnight before reassembling. If you lose or damage these O-rings the brush won't work properly and you can't order replacements. If they supplied extra O-rings in the kit you'd get a lot more life out of this unit.
NOTE: The hose attachment is a generic one that does not match the name brand ones tat I am familiar with, so you will need to get a hose for it or adapt an old one. Oddly, the hose coupler from a Tamiya "Spray Work" system (the old one I bought in the early 90's anyway) DOES fit it directly!
