An Early Television Classic
2 of 2 found this helpful Yancy Derringer takes place in New Orleans during Reconstruction, the series set the stage for the "private eye/detective" era of early television. Yancy was always "cool" and generally refined. The show typically avoided the many social controversies that were possible post Civil War yet Yancy's moral values were reflective of more modern times. The series has been compared to "The Saint" (the Roger Moore series) for good reason. The style has been carried forward to present day series like NCIS! The plots were good and fit the moral values of the late 50's. Well worth a walk through many memories.
