It wouldn't have been too difficult to make this just marginally functional. It's no no joke.

Product defective but refund given
The product did not work properly. The turntable made a noise indicating that surfaces somewhere were rubbing and the noise was audible in quiet music passages. It also appeared on the recorded files. Ignoring the noise, the sound quality was not very good. The supplier offered a satisfactory refund and allowed me to keep the item.
