A WLAN too far....
1. Because of distance and time differences, communication is slow. Was prepared for distance shipping, but not for distance communication in this electronic age. 2. Wanted to upgrade WLAN in my Lenovo M93p Tiny. Listing said compatible. Have the latest BIOS and positive experiences over the past decades with Lenovo and other manufacturers. 3. Nightmare from Day 1. Machine recognized card--great! No matter what tweak I tried, could not get speed any higher than 175 Mbps even when unit directly across from router. (Current Netgear router/firmware by the way, fully AC compatible). Higher 866 speed would flash across screen briefly before drop to 175. I powered up our Dell laptop in the exact same spot--great, top connection. 4. Asked for recommendations. Laughable. Wanted pictures. Sigh. Told of thousands of others successful. Sigh. 5. I took my chances; I'll live with the results. Just wouldn't recommend this one to anyone else.

Not the modem for you. . . .
Highly variable performance. Considerably less reliable and slower than the older Linksys I wanted to replace. Up and down so much that I reinstalled my Linksys. Comcast says they "support" the modem, but D-Link doesn't. No current firmware. Comcast firmware quite old as well. Upgrade procedure cumbersome and irreversible. Pass on this one. I'll absorb my loss and not go there again.

Renewing my Mac connection
Tried to switch to an iMac last year. At one time, had three about. Sold them all to return to familiar software of Windows-based PC. Guess what? After three months, I began to long for the elegance of the iMac. After four, I had decided to buy yet another. This is a fantastic machine. Only downside is warranty--BE SURE TO GET THE EXTENDED SOMEWHERE, preferably from eBay. It's an expensive investment, and you are being nothing but prudent to spend the extra $100 or less to get a full, "bumper to bumper" warranty for a full three years. Buy either VMWare or Parallels and you can retain all windows programs you feel you absolutely can't do without. OR install Windows on your iMac as your ONLY operating system. Sure, you give up the look and feel of Snow Leopard, but you retain the beauty, profile, and great feel of the iMac. Hardware deficiencies? Well, yes, two major. No firewire port. Lousy keyboard for those old hats among us who still love the IBM tactile. Really wish there were a decent Apple tactile keyboard!!!!!
