LED Replacements for standard incandescent bulbs

I liked the idea of these when I found them on ebay, and the price compared to 'standard' incandescent bulbs, but I was concerned that there might be a compatibility issue as I know that the car scans all bulbs doing a very quick current measurement check when the vehicle is started to make sure that all bulbs are functioning correctly (i.e., their filament isn't blown). I was therefore concerned that a replacement bulb based on a low-current LED with associated electronics would cause this test to fail, but given that the item stated that it was compatible with my specific vehicle (BMW 320 F31), and mentioned the CANBUS, I decided to go ahead with the purchase. Installing them was easy enough, and once done, they worked well - much brighter than the original bulbs (one of which had blown anyway .....). However, a week after replacing them, I got a spurious 'sidelight bulb failed' warning from the car when I started it. This was repeated the next two times I started the car, then it 'went away'. All was fine for another few weeks, then I got another 'sidelight bulb failed' warning from the car. The bulbs are still working, so it is my belief that the CANBUS is periodically fooled by the presence of these LED bulbs rather than the simple incandescent bulb it is expecting to 'see', and reports an error. This is not a 'show stopper' to driving the car, but it is annoying, particularly as the item claimed compatibility with the vehicle.

This is a great product :-) Bottled shaving foam or gel is a pale imitation of the old-fashioned 'proper stuff'. Rich lather. Great scent. Gives a smooth, close shave (with a decent razor too ;-)
