Jesse Tree - Great children's book w/reservations
This is a great children's book appropriate to read to children from ages 5-6 and up around Advent. It is a parallel story in that it tells one story of a boy who is inquisitive about what the Jesse Tree means to a fiesty old man who is putting it together (The Jesse Tree is a tree with pictures and figurines that remind you about Jesus and his geneology in the Judaic-Christian heritage) while telling you the Christmas story as well. My concerns are more that it is not for younger children (younger than 5 or 6), some of the language is a little more blunt or negative, and it is written by a British author so it has a different sensibility for American readers. Still loved it.

Sigur Ros' concert film 'Heima' awesome!
1 of 1 found this helpful I have become an avid fan of the Icelandic alternative band Sigur Ros. They are truly as unique and fascinating as their homeland, Iceland, which, really, most people don't know a lot about. Their Heima film basically takes a documentary-music style as they travel around Iceland to give free music concerts in bergs, towns, grassy knolls, etc to give back to the public that has given them notoreity. What is different about this film, too, is that it is almost a spiritual experience to watch it, or, at least it is just very different and unique from many American bands that want to make it big or have made it big. Sigur Ros bandmembers talk about space (personal space, soul space) and the attempt to communicate without words. I have never seen a concert film like this before.

Miles Davis' Miles in the Sky CD - Remastered
If you love jazz, you love Miles Davis, trumpeter and leader of his jazz quintet.
Miles in the Sky is a record release that showed Miles moving from 'cool jazz' to inserting rock into his jazz: Look at the psychedelic album cover--that should tell you that Miles is again moving ahead. This is a very good album, but more for people following Miles' progression in jazz. I really like the grooves on this one. This would be a good album to hear at a Laserium show.
