SENCORE LC77 AUTO - Z CAPACITOR INDUCTOR ANALYZER w/ LEAD AND POWER ADAPTER
    Aug 31, 2021
Serious test instrument for serious users who need to know if a capacitor is REALLY okay to use.
As a broadcast engineer, I have to have an analyzer which can perform comprehensive testing of capacitors at full rated voltages on equipment such as transmitters, amplifiers, power supplies, tower lighting systems, and more. Yet it also needs to be equally adept at test very low value capacitors such as ceramics, tantalums, mylar, etc. The LC77 handles all of those tasks beautifully. It also does an excellent job of testing coils and chokes. Sure, you can get pocket-sized testers and analyzers which will read capacitance and/or inductance, but the only way to know whether many capacitors are okay for use is to fully test them for ESR, dielectric absorption, and leakage at rated voltage. The LC77 can do that by applying up to 1,000 volts -- which you can't do with those little "cheapie" testers. The LC77 is the high quality, high capability tool for serious users.
NEW - SANGEAN MODEL HDT-1 HD RADIO COMPONENT TUNER - HD / AM / FM WITH REMOTE

Great when it works, but occasionally locks up as though there's an overheating problem.
As a broadcast engineer, I like to be able to occasionally tune-in to clients' HD FM broadcast subcarriers as a "quick check" that things are running as expected. This model HD Radio tuner seems to have occasional issues with the automatic level control (ALC) circuits, and will go silent with no HD data display, or will freeze up while indicating a "17" signal strength while tuned to a known operational FM broadcast frequency with HD subcarriers and have no audio output. When this happens, the unit has to be powered-off and back on again, sometimes several times or having to be left turned off for a few minutes. This leads me to suspect that something in the tuning/ALC circuits may be overheating. I am considering doing infrared thermographic testing to help determine if that is indeed the case, and possibly modifying the unit with a small fan if necessary to make it more reliable.
