Bullets by the bushel
The 6 Cavity Lee is a quality mold. If you have only used the Lee 2 cavity molds, which seem like they might be "made by matel", the 6 cavity looks and feels like a professional tool. And it is.
The bullet works in any 35 caliber rifle, but this particular bullet is designed to meet the limitations of the 35 Remington cartridge (short neck, virtually no throat) by having a short body area and a long neck area which is a smaller diameter to ride inside the bore and be only slightly engraved by the rifling. It does this well, with my wheelweight bullets casting up just over 200 grains and with very little variation between the cavities. Once the mold is cleaned of the manufacturing oils (mine took two splooshes with carb cleaner and a scrub with hot soapy water and still needed about 50 throws the first casting session before the bullets quit being wrinkled) you make a pile of bullets in a hurry.
The wood-covered sprue handle is designed to give a camming action to help cut the sprue, and the bullets drop from the aluminum block very nicely. You never need to whack anything with a mallet or stick when casting with this beautiful mold.
