Very nice, affordable 35mm body for Canon glass
1 of 1 found this helpful The EOS-1v is a very nice body for anyone who has already invested in Canon glass. The autofocus is responsive and with 45 points sits between a 5D mkII and 5d mkIII in capability, closer to the mkIII. Of course your glass makes the difference here - try to use fast lenses at f/2.8 or better to give the focus as much light as possible as the focus points aren't quite as sensitive as the latest digital body. (My body is 15 years old after all!) Luckily, the 28-70 f/2.8L and 80-200 f/2.8L are also affordable so if you're using f/4L lenses on your digital body you can make a "film kit" to go with your digital body. This body saves exposure information for all shots it takes, and while the Canon software is no longer available you can pick up a Meta35 cable and USB key that replicates the old Canon functionality (including setting some of the custom functions not available via the camera buttons). If you're thinking of dabbling in 35mm photography and you're already a Canon owner, the EOS-1v is a good bet.
