A lot of memories
What a superb book. I remember going out to these areas in my younger days but now they are all fenced off. So great to see such an informative book written about the shale mining days in Australia's infancy. This book, married up with similar books about the Wolgan Valley, give a true representation of how Australia began, when seeking sources for light, heating and power. This is one of the best reads of the mines in the Capertee Valley area. Worth every cent spent.

Typically Kerry Mcginnis
Heart Country is a book written by Kerry Mcginnis, about Kerry Mcginnis.
Written, as all of her books are, in her own imitable style. Kerry has the ability to paint her story rather than write it. She takes great care in describing the Australian outback as she writes her stories. She writes stories, within stories and each of them compelling.
None of her books are mysteries but rather paintings of the Australian outback for the reader to easily visualise, without losing track of the story line. This book will not let the Kerry Mcginnis reader down, despite this one being an autobiography in so many ways.
Kerry knows the Australian outback so well, being brought up in it. However, this author has the ability to paint that picture for the reader to easily visualise that which most Australians may never see.
Yet another well written book by Kerry.

Favourite Author
Nicole Trope is one of my favourite authors. Loved the book and my wife is breathing over my neck to borrow it. An excellent read.
