we use them because we are on blood pressure medication. one of side effects can be a dry throat//minor cough. we can use menthol chips even before we fall asleep and the cough goes away. they are so small that you don't have to worry about choking on them even if you fall asleep with one in your mouth. i always carry them and if friends have a minor cough i give them one and tell them to save the wrapper so they can order them if they like them. .
