They don't make them like this any more. I use mine for listening to music, not for recording, but the recorder is excellent also, and quiet. For music it has several EQ settings, plus you can create your own. They don't make them with LCD displays anymore like this one, which is best for viewing in the daytime because the newer models have LED displays which are hard to see. The backlight is great too. The unit it uses one AAA battery, which I -prefer over the non-replaceable lithium ion batteries in the newer models. The battery charges inside the unit itself, no need to take it out. Just plug the device into any USB outlet. it's convenient to simply put in a fresh AAA in case you need it, otherwise you can't listen again until you charge the lithium battery. Like the old Volkswagon Beetle, they never should have stopped making this model.
